Relexology is often referred to as a compression foot massage. It is a natural and drugless way of helping the body to heal itself by using the body's own natural healing resources.

Pressure is applied with the fingers to small areas on the foot or hand, which are known as reflex points, in order to stimulate or relax the body according to the needs of the client. Reflexology is a form of holistic therapy where prevailing symptoms within the context of the whole person are treated. The aim of this therapy is to complement rather than to work against orthodox medicine.

Reflexology aids the body to function properly by improving circulation. It helps to reduce stress, induces relaxation and revitalises energy. It helps boost the immune system, and detoxify the body.

The History of Reflexology Reflexology is an ancient art that has its origins in Chinese medicine. It has been recorded by the Egyptians in a wall painting found in a physicians tomb dated about 2330 BC. With the advance of medical science the ancient art of reflexology was disappearing but fortunately it was rediscovered by Dr. William Fitzgerald who, around 1913, began to offer a form of treatment known as "Zone Therapy". From his early work reflexology has evolved.

How many treatments will I need?

Some people feel a great benefit to have on-going regular treatments, while others come for a few sessions to relieve a particular condition. You can choose either 45 minutes or I-hour reflexology treatment, or what is very beneficial the combination reflex/back, which is 30 minutes reflexology and 30 minutes back, neck and shoulder massage. Most recipients of reflexology will feel very relaxed and calm.                                                                Many clients report an increase in energy, and find that their productivity and creativity improves. General health also improves with the help of regular treatment, and we know it to help in a preventative way. Reflexology should be an enjoyable experience and you will have the most relaxing hour ever!

Who Benefits from Reflexology

A Reflexologist uses hands only to apply pressure to the feet or hands. For each person the application and the effect of the therapy is unique. Sensitive, trained hands can detect tiny deposits and imbalances in the feet, and by working on these points the Reflexologist can release blockages and restore the free flow of energy to the whole body. Tensions are eased, and circulation and elimination is improved. This gentle therapy encourages the body to heal itself, often counteracting a lifetime of misuse.
